4 Tips to Stay on Track as a Busy Mom

Doing everyone’s laundry..

Making dinner..

Getting lunches packed..

Cleaning the house..

Being the PTA mom..

As a mom the list goes on…

So where in that long laundry list of tasks do we fit in working out, eating healthy, and being able to take care of ourselves?

Trying to live a healthy lifestyle as a mom can be one of the most challenging things on the planet. Believe me the amount of temptations that I come across are simply unbearable when I’m around my kid and his food, but luckily there are ways to revert eating habits and your lifestyle to a more healthy one. Balancing health, your family, and fitness can certainly be daunting, but with the right mindset it can be done.

Fitness

Fitting in a bit of exercise into your schedule every day may seem tough, but all it really takes is 30 minutes and of course your full effort. A fast workout method that you can considering doing is HIIT exercise also known as High Intensity Interval Training.

For thirty minutes straight you will workout 30 seconds in and take a 10 second break. Within the 30 minutes, you will be doing all sorts of cardio and weightlifting workouts that will really help you burn loads of calories. A few of the most effective fat burning exercises that you should consider doing include burpees, squats, lunges, push ups, and planks.

As you might have noticed, these workouts do not involve the use of any weights, meaning you don’t need to go to the gym everyday to get a good workout in. And these can be done in the comfort of your own home. Just make sure you have ample room to do what you need to.

Clean Eating

A lifestyle change is 80% in the kitchen and 20% exercise.  The healthier you eat, the better results you will be able to experience. Clean eating is the toughest part, what I like to follow is a paleo diet, mostly protein, fruits and vegetables. Meal planning has helped me out a lot. I make a little extra every night for dinner so I can take it to work for lunch! Breakfasts are a little more of a struggle for me by the time I’m done with my morning workout, showered and ready to go, it’s time to wake my son up and get him ready and out the door. When am I supposed to eat breakfast?! Ive taken the time to make hard boiled eggs earlier in the week so I can grab and go in the morning. I throw them in my lunch box, and tend to get to work 15 minutes early scarf those down and I’m golden!

Controlling Your Cravings

When it comes to your cravings, sometimes the urge is so unbearable that you just wind up binge eating. Before you splurge like crazy, consider turning your favorite dishes into more healthy forms. If you’re longing for pancakes, consider making banana and egg pancakes with honey as the syrup. The texture and flavor to actual pancakes is uncanny and the best part is that it’s completely gluten free. If you’re craving for some potato chips, bake yourself some kale with sea salt and you will be able to mend that junk food craving of yours. All of your favorite meals or snacks have some form of “healthier” version.

Drinking water daily

Water plays significant roles in various human body systems among them circulation, digestion and breathing. The amount of water that you drink will depend on your body weight, your surrounding environment and the amount of workout you undertake. Most of the time when I feel “hungry” I’m bored or dehydrated. Grab a big glass of water and chug away, your craving or that feeling of hunger will subside.

So yes we all have busy lives and need to work better on being more health humans.
